CITYWATER is now online, the website is released! The purpose of the website is to inspire cities and municipalities in the Baltic Sea region to do concrete water protection measures, for example through building storm water constructions.
During the three year project, CITYWATER will build storm water constructions in Helsinki, Tallinn and Turku. Other focus areas of CITYWATER are to analyze the costs and benefits of various water protection measures, to increase environmental communication in the Baltic Sea countries, and to spread the Baltic Sea Challenge in the Baltic Sea region. You can read more about these in the Actions section on the website.
Project coordinator Satu Viitasalo-Frösén, what is going on in the CITYWATER project at the moment?
– Right now we are working on for example how to spread the Baltic Sea Challenge in Latvia. Also, storm water working groups have been established in each of the project partner cities, that is in Helsinki, Tallinn and Turku, to plan for the implementation of the new storm water constructions. During the fall we will arrange a study trip for partner cities’ civil servants, to a European city that is a frontrunner in storm water solutions.
Coming up is also a Baltic Sea Challenge Facebook page.
