Cities Forum brings up benefits of water protection


As part of the official opening of the Gulf of Finland Year 2014, CITYWATER organizes a Cities Forum, “Benefits of water protection – a range of concrete measures for local actors”.The Forum brings up a cost-benefit perspective of water protection measures, and themes to be discussed include storm waters, waste water reception in ports, food and waste water treatment plants.

The Forum is organized on 21 January 2014 and it is opened by the mayor of Helsinki, Mr. Jussi Pajunen. It is especially directed to high-level municipal actors and decision makers in Finland, the Baltic States and other Baltic countries.

The Gulf of Finland Year opening event consists of two parallel sessions in the morning, the Cities Forum and the Scientific Forum, followed by the Opening Forum organized by the Finnish Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the City of Helsinki.
